Angene Wilson
Angene Wilson is Professor Emerita, University of Kentucky College of Education, where she led the secondary social studies program from 1975 to 2004. She was also Associate Director of the Office of International Affairs for University of Kentucky from 1990 to 1997. Her research area has been the impact of international experience on teachers, students, and schools, described in journal articles and in the book, The Meaning of International Experience for Schools. Currently, she and her husband are writing a book about Peace Corps volunteers over the last 45 years, based on interviews with more than 80 returned volunteers, in conjunction with the University of Kentucky Oral History Program. For three years after retirement, Angene continued to teach her preparatory course for overseas student teaching as well as inaugurating a History of Africa course for the History Department. Her M.A. is in History/African Studies (Michigan State, 1966) and her Ph.D. in Humanities Education (Ohio State, 1976). Her international experience includes:
