Transatlantic Outreach Program
Founded in 2002, the Transatlantic Outreach Program (TOP) seeks to provide K-12 Social Studies educators in the USA and Canada with up-to-date information about Germany. TOP accomplishes this goal through its three pillars: 1) Production of teaching materials, 2) Distribution of teaching materials through workshops, and 3) All-expenses-paid study tours every summer to Germany. The study tours are two-weeks in length and expose educators to the German education and political systems as well as businesses and culture. Following the tours, educators are required to write a lesson as well as conduct two workshops. TOP is a unique public/private partnership between the Federal Foreign Office of Germany, the Goethe-Institut, Deutsche Bank, and the Robert Bosch Stiftung. TOP is operated at the Goethe-Institut in Washington, DC. For more information, visit www.goethe.de/top. |
